Chinedum Babalola is the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University Abeokuta, a Pharmacist, a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmacokinetics and a past Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan (UI). She received her education from various institutions including Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife; University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada; Kilimanjaro School of Pharmacy, Tanzania and Purdue University USA. Her research focusses on drug development, pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenetics, and clinical trials. She has enjoyed several grants and fellowships including MacArthur grant to set up Centre for Drug Discovery, Development and Production (CDDDP) in UI. She is a Fellow of Nigerian Academy of Science (FAS), African Academy of Sciences (FAAS), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (FPSN), Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy (FNAPharm) etc. She was selected twice as one of 10 most influential female scientists in Nigeria. She won the African Union (AU) Kwame Nkrumah Regional Prize for Scientific Excellence in 2020; making her an AU Laureate. She has over 100 peer-reviewed publications and has supervised and mentored over 50 postgraduate students. As a Vice-Chancellor, Babalola has grown Chrisland University from a population of less than 60 students to over 1,200 students in five years, established College of Basic Medical Sciences and College of Law.
